This is a translation. If there are any differences between this version and the Spanish one, the Spanish version prevails.
At Fomo, we only use your data so you can get organized with your groups. We don’t sell it, we don’t use it for advertising and we don’t track you across other apps. Here’s what we keep, why, who sees it and what you can do.
Who Is Responsible
The controller of your data is Abel Diaz Sepulveda, Spanish tax ID (NIF) 48157245Y (his other details are in the Legal Notice). For anything about your data, you can email soporte.fomo@icloud.com.
What Data We Keep
Your account: your email, your first name, your last name or nickname, when you signed up and when you last signed in. Your password is stored encrypted by our provider; we can’t see it.
Your groups: which groups you’re in, since when, and your settings in each one (nickname, color, icon, and whether you’ve archived or muted it).
Your plans and responses: the plans you suggest (title, description, date and time) and how you respond to other people’s plans.
Your Fomo events, if you create them in the app without connecting your iPhone calendar: title, description, date and time, how often they repeat, and the Fomo calendar they’re in. If you later connect your iPhone calendar, your Fomo calendars move to your iPhone; if you disconnect it again, they come back to Fomo with the events they have at that point, including any you added to those calendars in the Calendar app.
Your routines, if you save any (for example, your regular class or work schedule): their title, notes, time and length, so you can add them to your days in one tap.
When you’re busy, if you connect your iPhone calendar. All that leaves your iPhone is from when to when you’re busy, plus a technical ID number so it isn’t duplicated. Never the title, location, notes or people of your events: those stay on your iPhone (except as described above: the calendars that came from Fomo, when you disconnect).
Who you block, what you report and which terms you’ve accepted, with their dates.
Your Fomo Pro purchases, if you buy it: which plan, when you bought it, how long it’s valid, whether it’s been refunded, and the numbers Apple assigns to each purchase, so we know you’re Pro. Never your payment details: those stay with Apple.
What we need to send you notifications, if you allow them: the address Apple gives your iPhone to deliver them, your iPhone’s language and time zone (so they’re written in your language and at your time), and which notifications you have turned on. When you log out, your iPhone is removed.
Technical security data: if someone tries invite codes that aren’t valid, we keep an encrypted fingerprint of their connection (not the IP address itself) for one day, to stop anyone trying to guess them. We also count how many times each account does certain things in a minute, an hour or a day (voting, changing plans, downloading their data…), just the number, to prevent abuse. Our provider also keeps technical logs (IP address and time) to protect the service.
On your iPhone, and only there, the app keeps a copy of your calendar so it opens instantly (encrypted while your iPhone is locked), what the widgets show, and your preferences. Reminders before an event or plan starts are prepared by your own iPhone.
We don’t use analytics tools or personalized advertising, and we don’t track you across apps.
Why We Use Your Data and Why We’re Allowed To
To make Fomo work (your account, your groups, your plans, seeing when everyone’s free and, if you buy it, Fomo Pro): because it’s what you ask us for when you use the app (contract, Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)).
For security and handling reports (stopping abuse, making sure a refunded purchase can’t be used again, reviewing reported content, being able to show which terms you accepted): based on our legitimate interest in protecting the people who use Fomo and on our legal obligations (Articles 6(1)(c) and 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).
We don’t make automated decisions about you or create profiles.
Who Sees Your Data
People in your groups see your name and nickname, the plans you suggest in that group and your responses, and when you’re busy (never what you’re doing). Anyone who joins a group only sees what happens after they join.
Our database and account provider, Supabase, which stores the data on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany) and only processes it on our instructions, under a data processing agreement.
Apple, if you buy Fomo Pro: Apple handles the payment and we don’t receive your payment details. Apple notifies us of every purchase, renewal, cancellation or refund, so Pro works when it should. And to deliver your notifications: Apple receives your iPhone’s address and what each notification says (for example, who is suggesting which plan and when).
Cloudflare, where our website is hosted: if you visit it, Cloudflare keeps your connection address and the time, to protect it and keep it working. The website doesn’t use cookies.
The authorities, only if a law requires us to.
Supabase is a US company. If it ever had to access the data from outside the European Union, it would do so with the safeguards the law requires (the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses).
How Long We Keep It
For as long as you have your account.
Some things are deleted automatically sooner: your busy times older than 25 months, canceled plans one month after they’re canceled, invite codes after 30 minutes, the security fingerprint the next day, notifications as soon as they’re sent (the next day at most), the address of an iPhone that hasn’t opened Fomo in six months, and the abuse-prevention counts as soon as they’re no longer needed (two days at most). Resolved reports are deleted after one year.
If you delete your account, everything is deleted immediately: your account, your events, your busy times, your responses and your settings. Of your Fomo Pro purchases, all that’s kept, without your account, is the number Apple assigns to each one, the plan, its dates and whether it was refunded: that way, a refunded purchase can’t be used again from another account. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel a Fomo Pro subscription: you do that in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Plans you suggested in a group that haven’t happened yet stay in the group, managed by the group’s admin, so the other members don’t lose them. Our provider’s backups are automatically replaced within 30 days at most.
Your Rights
You can ask to see your data, correct it, delete it, take it with you, object to our using it, or have us stop using it for a while. You can do almost all of this yourself in the app:
See your data and take it with you: Settings → Download My Data.
Correct it: change your last name or nickname, your plans and your events in the app. To correct your first name, email us.
Delete it: Settings → Delete My Account.
For anything else, email soporte.fomo@icloud.com and we’ll reply within one month. If you think we haven’t handled your data properly, you can file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD, www.aepd.es).
Minimum Age
Fomo is for people 16 and older. If we learn that someone younger has an account, we delete it.
How We Protect Your Data
Everything is encrypted as it travels between your iPhone and the server. In the database, each person can only read what they’re allowed to: the server itself checks this, not just the app. Passwords are stored encrypted, and what the app keeps on your iPhone is protected while it’s locked.
If We Change This Policy
We’ll let you know in the app before the change takes effect. You’ll always see the version and its date here.
